Inez and Julius Polin
The Polin Institute gets its name from our donors, Inez and Julius Polin. Julius Polin (1869-1960) was a businessman and a philanthropist. Both he and his wife Inez (née Blomberg, 1885-1966) were known for their support of Swedish speaking culture in Finland. In the 1930’s, they established a fund honoring Julius Polin’s ancestors who were priests and had studied at the Royal Åbo Akademi. Some 80 years later, the Polin Institute was founded.
