The organisation of The Polin Institute

The Inez and Julius Polin Institute is led by an executive board. This board has eight members who represent the Faculty of Humanities, Psychology and Theology, the Foundation for Åbo Akademi University, the Education Pathway for Theology, doctoral students in theology at Åbo Akademi University, and three external members who are familiar with theological research. The executive board has a three-year term. Day-to-day operations are taken care of by The Polin Institute’s head of research and The Polin Institute’s co-ordinator.

The executive board for 2024 to 2027 comprises Professor Päivi Salmesvuori (chair), Ilona Blumgrund MTh (vice-chair) (represents the doctoral students in theology at Åbo Akademi University), Nina Blom D. Ph (represents the Foundation for Åbo Akademi University), Professor Cecilia Nahnfeldt, Dean Peter Nynäs (represents the Faculty of Humanities, Psychology and Theology), Professor Per Sundman (Uppsala University, external member), Professor Kati Tervo-Niemelä (University of Eastern Finland, external member) and Professor Lena-Sofia Tiemeyer (Örebro School of Theology, external member).

The executive board for 2021 to 2024 comprised Professor Björn Vikström (chair), Professor Kati Tervo-Niemelä (vice-chair), Nina Blom D. Ph (replaced Linda Annunen D. Ph 2021-2022), Ilona Blumgrund MTh (substitute Topias Tanskanen MTh 2022), Professor Antti Laato, Dean Peter Nynäs, Professor Lena-Sofia Tiemeyer, and Professor Cecilia Wejryd.
