Excursion – methodological approaches to researching natural sacred sites

Time: Wednesday May 21, at 13.15 a clock. The excursion takes about 90 minutes.
Place: We meet at the parking space for the Maaria nature trails, Paimalavägen 363, 20460 Åbo. You can get there by car, bus or bike. The bus, 22A, leaves from Trätorget/Puutori. There should be a bus leaving at 12.39.
Description: How can sacred or revered sites from historic folklore materials be identified, localized and studied in the field and as part of the (past) everyday living environments of people? John Björkman, Ph.D. in Nordic folkloristics, presents his methodological approaches to researching natural sacred sites on site at Äkölän Krotti in Paimala, northern Turku. The excursion is open for anyone interested in the topic.
Dress according to the weather and wear sturdy shoes appropriate for moving in terrain. Bring your own water bottle. Some snacks will be provided.
